It is in 2006 that Aythis came to light as Carline Van Roos felt the need to express her emotions in a somber neo-classical music style, incorporating ambient elements and funeral soundscapes.
Aythis unique harmonies are created by the alchemy of depressive keyboard atmospheres, haunting and hypnotic melodies, ethereal voice and dark orchestral drums.
The lyrics theme explores mostly isolation, melancholy, dreams, life and death.
The first songs written were the self-titled ‘Aythis’ and ‘Shallow Blackout’. Then began the recording of "Doppelgänger" in August 2006 which ended after an intensive work of 8 months in April 2007.
In July 2007, Aythis catches the interest of the english label Paradigms Recordings that releases Aythis' debut CD in November 2007.
Doppelgänger features 8 tracks for a total of 43 minutes and received very good and motivating feedbacks from the listeners. It was mastered by Maor Appelbaum who worked as live sound engineer for bands like Death in June, Ancient Rites, Apoptigma-Berzerk, Samael etc....
May 2007 starts with the writing process of "Glacia", the second album of Aythis. This new work turns to be more orchestral, more professional, without losing the intimist, sad, nostalgic feeling that represents Aythis. "Glacia" paints a picture of wintry, icy and desolated landscapes.
In February 2009, Aythis signs with the french label Prikosnovénie/Nové which releases "Glacia" in March 2009.
